Today was the woodcarving show at Wheeler Farm. We actually had lunch outside on the patio before we left. George went out there, so I brought his lunch to him, I didn't think he would want to go out there cause it was windy. He came in after awhile, it got too windy. After he finished lunch, we went to the woodcarving show. There were lots of cool carvings. It was a good show. We went for a drive and saw some kids in baseball uniforms playing catch in the park, we stopped and watched them for a few minutes. When I pulled up in the driveway, he opened his eyes and said "Ohhhh, where..." in that fun high pitched voice and then said "Oh Thank you, thank you, thank you. I guess he was glad to be back? ;) He came in and actually layed on the couch. I covered him with a blanket. He was tired today.

highlights from my march visit
Wednesday night: we watched American Idol with Jody. Dad pointed at Steven Tyler and said, Is that a woman or man? When Jody said which one, he said, "that guy, I mean is that a woman or man"? He had fun joking about him.
Thursday was Dr, Dentist, hearing aid day. Dad was up early so I scheduled a 1200 appointment at the dentist, then took him to Costco to get his hearing aids cleaned and adjusted, then at 3 he had his Dr. appointment. He did really well going to all those places. He always remembers everyone by face and looks happy to see them.
Friday, I took dad to a Gem and Rock Fair in Spanish Fork (thanks Jody for telling us about it). Dad seemed to have fun. There was a man wearing a dinosaur bone costume who kept "biting" us. We won the special prize on a spin the wheel contest: 4 rocks! Dad took a long time sorting through the bin and found just the right ones. There was a lot of sorting and choosing of rocks at various booths. Too many for me, but he seemed to like it. it was a big place with lots of things to see. He ran into someone who recognized him from his gardening days. he said he used to talk with dad a lot about plants. There was a sifting station too (like the mining thing at Snowbird). But there were actual crystals from the ground (not seeded). So dad found one big one and a few little ones. He was disappointed since there were only a few and only one color. He got impatient with the person helping us and poured the rest of the sand on the sifter by himself. He knew how to do it I guess! Dad ate a whole sloppy joe sandwich. I guess it was good. And he talked a lot, but I couldn't understand much. He looked like he was lecturing about the size of rocks and other details. He likes to be an authority. Another highlight was when he picked up a big rock (bigger than his head) and lifted it up and down showing off how strong he was. It was actually a pumice stone so it was lighter than it looked, but it was still heavy.
Saturday, we went to Ogden to see Sarah. She's going to Japan today. We went to a Chinese Buffet place for dinner and Dad filled two plates really high. He ate a lot from one plate but he was pocketing his food again so I don't think much of the food went into his stomach. But he had fun picking out his own food. He walked around the food tables pushing the wheelchair with one hand. We watched half of the Jazz game at Mamiyo's and when we were ready to leave, he said, "it's not over yet!" And asked if the Jazz were winning. When we got home, Dennis had recorded the game so we watched it again there. They went into overtime so it was an exciting game. Sumo starts today.

George slept all night after sleeping a lot yesterday. I cleaned while he got dressed. After I fixed him some breakfast/lunch, I tried to get him to finish one of his small canvas' he kept falling asleep. I've given him some vitamin C along with his other pills the last couple days. He's been sneezing. We just hung out at home today and later we watched American Idol together and had a glass of wine.

After I fixed breakfast this morning, I was telling George we needed to go grocery shopping. We were sitting on the couch and he said "Whhhhat for!" and "Whhhhhy!" when I told him we need to go out. So we just sat there for a few minutes, I was showing him pictures but he was agitated. We just hung out for a few minutes and I had him do some leg exercises. I went and got some cards of choices of things to do. He picked going to the Senior Center then said "Let's go." He rode the bike for about 45 minutes and stretched a little more and did the resistance bands. When we were leaving it was c-o-l-d...we went to get something to eat and have some coffee. When we were driving home, he said "Is that our dog?" I was starting to say no, but when I looked, it sure was! Zimbabwe and Ryan were going for a walk. He's so observant! We came home, he took a shower (I forgot the other day) and he took a really long nap and was napping on and off. I had him get to bed around 1:00am.

George woke up early today. After I helped him get ready, we had breakfast together and then I left to go on a couple errands. I came back with Panda Express for lunch and when I brought him his lunch he said "Ohhh, ohhh, ohhh" I think he liked it ;) The toilet over flooded later on and he was looking everywhere, making sure there was no water anywhere. It was windy and over cast today and snowed later on in the evening. He was in bed by midnight. He's been getting up and ready on his own.

It was such good weather today! It was snowing a couple days ago and is really nice today. I mentioned that I would be staying at the house this week while Dennis and Trevor are skiing in Colorado. I asked George what he wanted to do, he said he wanted to go to the mountains. We drove up the canyons then down around by the U of U area and then out to lunch at the Corner Bakery on foothill. When we came back, I let him take a nap and told him I had to do some errands. He went to bed around 11-12ish.

When I walked in, George was on the floor picking things up. I took him back so he could shave and get ready to go out. I mentioned he should go to the Senior Center today since he hasn’t been exercising and getting out this week. We drove to the Senior Center and he did lots of stretching, rode the bike, and worked with the resistance bands. He did a good job. We came home and I fixed him something to eat. It was “Too cold” outside. He started to fall asleep, so I had him get on the couch to take a nap and covered him with a blanket.

The weather wasn’t too great today. George was awake but in bed when I came over; it took him a little bit to wake up. When he was ready he had a lunch skype with Sharon and David today along with the cats and the musical animals ;) He was pretty quiet but they talked for a long time. He must have been really interested. That’s so cool they can do that.
