When I came over today Dennis said George was confused. He seemed to be OK after a bit and has been sleeping alright. When he got ready, we went out to lunch at the Pho place on State St. (He chose it.) When we go I always get the tofu eggplant and he loves it. I mentioned that he really liked it and he got it too and ate more than I did! That doesn't happen very often. After lunch he noticed a sign pointing to an “Antique shop” We went to check it out. We went to a furniture restoration place that was next door first. They had furniture similar to his. He was looking at the price and saying how much it would be worth in 10 years. We looked around and talked to the guy that worked there for a bit, and then we went to the antique shop. They had lots of old stuff. He was asking about a Chinese tea set and saying it was pretty. He came home and talked to Sharon and David on skype. The weather was really weird today. It started out overcast and then it rained, then it was sunny, rained again, then hailed...crazy...

Today when I came over, George was outside looking at the fish in the pond. I went over and told him hi. He said “What are those fish doing?” I told him they were playing because it was nice weather. He motioned that they were following each other. As I was cleaning up a bit while George was getting ready, Hideo (Sp?) came over for a visit. I helped George get ready so he could visit with them. When he saw their car he said “Oh nice car!" He was showing them his rocks and his box that he made. We had lunch at home today; I had a hard time keeping him awake. I asked him if he liked my new shirt (Roses), he gave me his OK sign and said it looked really ‘clean’ and it was ‘nice’. I told him we were leaving soon and he needed to get ready (“We’re leaving in 15 minutes…10 minutes…”) I got him to get up. We went to Lowe’s to get some more flowers; they were having a sale. (He wasn't too thrilled about the idea of going to the cemetery). We took the wheelchair with us and I kept asking him if he wanted to sit down. No…no…no…he was just pushing it. I’m glad he wanted to walk. He finally sat down. He was pushing the cart and I was pushing him. A lady walked by and said “That’s team work.” When we got home, he was showing me where he wanted the flowers and then he got in the shower. It looks like it’s going to rain.

George was asleep on the couch when I came over today. When he was getting ready, (I was showing him his razor) he said that “That guy shaves me…” and “Are you taking his place?” He was a little confused at first saying “I don’t know what’s going on.” We talked for a bit and I was explaining things to him. He was tired today and his arms were sore, usually it’s his legs. We ended up not doing much today, we just went for a drive and to lunch. When we got home I gave him a massage and he took a nap.

Sharon and David are leaving today. When I came over, we all went to Wasatch Shadows and picked up some flowers for the yard. George picked a lot of flowers for the yard :) David planted a plant by George’s window. (To see I am using speech recognition, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t now love for speedy as. Are you serious elbow EL SP) to cease. Lol Ok it’s me now, it took forever just to say that and get it right! The ‘elbow EL’ was supposed to be lol and the ‘now love for speedy as’ was…now of course it is. ;) Anyway…it was fun to see you today. I hope you weren’t too rushed. Thanks Sharon for the shirts! You’re too nice. You both have a safe trip back :)

Tuesday May 17, 2011

I came over today instead of Wednesday because Dennis has been working on my computer anyway. George was so nice and appreciative of me today, it was really nice to hear. He ate SO much! Two lunches, and just snacked throughout the day. David will be over tomorrow and then Sharon and David will be here on Friday. :)

George was dressed and sleeping on the couch when I came over today. He chose to go to the sushi place on Highland drive. He told the guy there that owns it “I remember you; I used to live over in Holladay…” When I asked him what he wanted to do he actually said “Let’s go over the mountain” and he did that wave motion with his hands for the ski jumpers. I told him they weren’t jumping yet but that we could go up. We were walking along Main Street and he said “Can we go in there?” It was a southwest store and he was in there for quite awhile. (He hasn’t said that in a long time, lately he just shrugs his shoulders and says he doesn’t care where or what he does). It was so cool that he made that decision. :) A lot of the shops were closed and don’t open until the end of May but it was still fun to go up there with him. It was cool weather up there. When we were leaving the shop there were people coming in and he said “There’s lots of stuff in there.” (He got the pictures in the mail today. Thanks Sharon!) There are two more pictures of Park City on photobucket.

George was sitting at the table eating chips when I came over. I asked him if he wanted to go out and eat he said he didn’t, and he was hungry anyway. I come over a little later on Friday’s so I just made him what he showed me he wanted. We ended up eating outside cause it was such a nice day! Really hot compared to how it has been. He saw an airplane and mentioned that it was going to “California.” It was just a mellow day today. I asked him a few times if he just wanted to go for a drive. He just waved his hands and said “I don’t feel like it.” He just wanted to relax and enjoy the day. We sat outside on the front porch and watched his neighbors and just talked. It’s so nice and peaceful out on the porch. He got in the shower today too. Maybe Monday we can skype with Sharon.

When I drove up, George was standing inside looking out the front door. It took a little bit to get him going. He didn’t want to go anywhere; he was waving his hands and showing me the cloudy weather. I got him to go get ready (After he went and made coffee) ;) it’s his way to do things ya know? ;) I’m glad he was doing that though. I showed him that the sun came out and after he put on his shoes he chose to go to lunch at Anna’s CafĂ© (He picked it pretty quickly but at least he did). At lunch one of the ladies that works there said that Tom and Fran come in. I guess they told him George was Tom’s brother. While we were eating he said “There are too many people here." We went to cash his check at the bank after wards. He took a break by the pharmacy and then again by the front door. He was walking really well. He checked the mail when he got home and then took a nap on the couch.

Monday, May 9, 2011

Today is a rainy day. George was in his robe watching golf when I came over. I helped him get up and go in his room to get dressed, after he was dressed we had some lunch, (he made coffee while I made lunch). While we were eating and out of the blue he said “That guy comes and shaves me, I can do it”…he thought he came every day. He said “There used to be another girl that came here” I asked if he meant me? “No not you, there’s an oriental girl that comes here. “My daughter and my son hired people to come.” I said “Oh Yolanda?! She’s the nurse.” “Ohhh she’s a nurse.” It was nice to have a conversation with him. :) After lunch I showed him some pictures on the computer of things that we have done. He didn't remember a lot, but seemed to like them. He painted some of the wood tulips that we bought at the craft store. His fingers were hurting and he was getting tired, he took a nap on the couch while I cleaned up and finished laundry. It was good to see him more alert today. (He’s been alert and aware, he’s just been quiet).

Saturday, May 7, 2011

George was dressed and on the couch when I came over today. We just had lunch outside; he is really quiet again today. He kept falling asleep; it was hard to keep him up. It was a really nice day and he was pointing out the fish to me and saying how big they were. I was taking pictures and was asking him which one he liked, he did his OK sign on one of them. After lunch I had him get in the shower. It was a backwards day today.

Wednesday, May 4, 2011

I came over earlier today. George has a blood draw for his Doctor appointment on Friday. He was dressed and sleeping on the couch when I got here, I let him sleep for a bit. Stephen from Care Source came over to see how he was doing and ask some questions. George woke up and we were both here, I think it may have confused him. When I told him we needed to go to the Doctors today to get his blood drawn, He got so mad! “Let them come here!” “Why the hell do I need to do that!”…I let him rest on the couch for a bit and calm down, it helped. After a few minutes, we went to his bathroom so he could get ready; I set up skype so George could talk to Sharon. He got to see her office and the campus. He had that proud smile he gets. He talked to Sharon for quite a bit, it was nice. It’s so funny (In a cute way) to listen to them talk.

George wasn’t sure where he wanted to go and eat today but he wanted to go out. I got out the cards and he chose the tofu place by Albertsons, he was watching the soccer game that they had on at the restaurant; I think he was more interested in that. He showed me what he wanted on the menu and then when he was about done eating, he said “I guess they don’t have shrimp” I told him he got what he ordered, and even asked him before we ordered. When we got in the car he said “That place should close down.” We went for a small drive after wards and came home so he could be home when the Massage Therapist came over. When we walked in, Trevor was here and said that she came about 20 minutes earlier :( She said she would schedule for another day.

(There are about 3 more pictures on photobucket of Sharon and George talking on skype and of his flowers in the back yard.)

Monday, May 2, 2011

I came over a little later today and talked to Sharon before she goes back to Minnesota. (Don left yesterday). George, Sharon and me went outside to look at the flowers; it’s such a nice day today. :) George ended up digging the weeds out of the flower beds and the dandelions out of the lawn. When he was done weeding, we went inside and he sat in the chair with the massager on. We went for a drive after wards; he wasn’t sure where he wanted to go he just said “You’re the one that wanted to go.” We were driving around and I asked him if he wanted to go get coffee (Beans and Brews was close). He said “I don’t want coffee! Why do you ask me that?! We went for a drive and went to the pet store. Incredible Pets is now under new management and has a new name. They had baby chicks and bunnies. He was tired walking around, we came home and I fixed him something to eat while he made his drink.
