It’s a nice day today. George was sitting outside on the porch when I pulled up. We sat outside for a bit then came in to get him ready to go. He chose to go to the Olympic Park to watch the ski jumpers; it was a good day for that. I thought it would be a good idea to go too since it’s getting late in the season. The pros were jumping off the highest ski jump, it was fun to watch. We stopped at McDonalds on the way home. He’s been really hungry lately and eating lots. :)

Monday September 17, 2012

George was really busy today picking things up, I thought Snowbird mining would be a good thing to do and keep him busy with his hands. I took some of the gem stones he already has and put them in with the sand that Pamela gave us. When we were in the car I showed him and he said “Oh you got it already?” We had a sandwich and coffee first in a room with ski pictures. George thought one of them looked like a cat. I must have put too many rocks in the sand cause he wasn’t into it. “Too big…I don’t need that many.” Pamela told us about a trail that led to an observation deck. She went with us and helped push the wheelchair. She said she could get us tickets to the tram next time we come up. She’s so nice! When we got home George said “Oh Thank you, thank you”.

I took the day off today.

George was really tired today. He was even too tired to talk to Sharon on skype. I cleaned while he took a nap in his room. He had a late skype lunch with Sharon. :) After he was done on skype, I pulled his scooter out into the driveway and when I came in he had that grin on his face. He drove it around the neighborhood and through some streets. He did really well; stopping at stop signs and looking for traffic. He was admiring lawns/houses he said “I like that one” it was a nice yard with flowers in bloom. He noticed Fran’s brother’s house and we met one of his neighbors, Joe. He liked his scooter ;) (I got on with him when we were close to the driveway). When we got back I had him do some exercises. We did some outside and then inside too, he didn’t want to stop. We did a lot of different exercises. :)

Today was kind of a cloudy and cool day. After George was ready and after I fixed him some lunch, I thought we would make it an indoor day, but after lunch the sun came out and Dennis suggested we take the scooter out. (He bought a lift last week and hooked it up to the truck). We drove the truck to Willowcreek Park and he drove around the walkway of the park. We walked over to watch some kids play soccer, they were going to have an actual game (Usually we just see them practice). It started to get cloudy and then it started to thunder. We left right in time just as it was starting to rain. He came home and got in the shower. After his shower, I showed him pictures of last week and today, when he saw the picture of the scooter he said “First time” and he had to go and check out where his scooter was. Today was an adventure.

George was sitting outside on the porch today, dressed and just enjoying the day. I sat with him outside for a while; he wasn’t ready to come inside yet to get ready to go. When we were sitting outside, Dennis pulled up and George looked at me and said “Are you married to him?” It was funny. We came in and got ready to go. I took him to Sandy Urban Fishery today to watch people fish (Next time it will be his turn). He wasn’t too interested until people showed up to fish. It was a quiet day there today. He watched a guy with his son fish. They caught a small fish. We stayed there for a while and we ‘walked’ around the pond and play area. We went to eat after that and then I took him to cash his check. When we got back to the house, I had him water the plants. Trevor had been over and cut the grass and trimmed the bushes by the porch. I had George water the bushes too.

When George was getting ready, I got his two hats that he has out thinking he might want to wear one today, I guess not, he just threw them on the floor.  :/ He got ready to go, combed his hair… and then he got to have a lunch skype with Sharon. :) Afterwards, we went to Red Butte Garden’s. We drove up City Creek canyon and around that area and then we took the long way home. He had an appetite when he got home!

George grinning at the Rose of Sharon
I was over at the house on Tuesday. George was motioning to me and saying “Come here, come here” and telling me how the girl ‘grabbed him’ and took his clothes off and got him in the shower. “First time.” He wasn’t a happy camper.  :/

Happy Labor Day! Today we went to Park City Olympic Park to watch the ski jumpers. There was a lot of traffic coming down the mountain from the weekend. When we got there, no one was jumping; I asked and they were there jumping earlier in the day. We stayed for quite a while. He watched the people on the zip line, the trampoline and just people watched. It’s starting to get cool in the mountains and the leaves are changing and look really pretty. We went to Redrock afterwards; I thought he might like a beer. We shared a sampler and some spaghetti. FYI, he likes Honey Wheat ;)

George was having a nap on the porch today. He was dressed and ready to go though. I told him I was here and he came in after a bit. We went back to his room and did the usual. When he was ready to go, he went to sit on the chair in the living room and wasn’t quite ready yet. He had a lunch skype with Sharon (And Scout) first. ;) We went and got his hair cut today and as usual, it looks really nice. He had it washed too :) I tried to find the Sandy pond (Fishery) again today, I had the directions but they were off. It started raining really hard, I called Fran and Tom to see if they wanted to come over (They had called earlier to see if they could come over) they only stayed for a few minutes. I asked George if he was hungry “Just a little bit.” I got him a little bit to eat ;) (I had him give Tom and Fran one of his soaps that he made too.)
