George was having a nap on the porch today. He was dressed and
ready to go though. I told him I was here and he came in after a bit. We went
back to his room and did the usual. When he was ready to go, he went to sit on
the chair in the living room and wasn’t quite ready yet. He had a lunch skype
with Sharon (And Scout) first. ;) We went and got his hair cut today and as
usual, it looks really nice. He had it washed too :) I tried to find the Sandy pond (Fishery) again today, I had the directions but
they were off. It started raining really hard, I called Fran and Tom to see if
they wanted to come over (They had called earlier to see if they could come
over) they only stayed for a few minutes. I asked George if he was hungry “Just
a little bit.” I got him a little bit to eat ;) (I had him give Tom and Fran
one of his soaps that he made too.)

George was sitting up on the couch; it looked like he had just
woken up. Maybe he took a nap? The curtains were still closed when I came in. I
took him back to change and do ‘the usual’ teeth, hair, shave…When he was
dressed he had some lunch. After lunch I showed him Trevor’s videos, he watched
those for a while and thought they were cool. We looked at the road atlas and I
showed him where he used to live, he said “oh Tacoma, I lived there.” and I
showed him where Sharon and David live and then Don. I tried to do some of the
word search but he wasn't too interested. We did the exercises on the list from
PT, he did a good job. He went back to shave again on his own and then we
looked at pictures of the kids from when they were little. He talked to Sharon,
David and Scout on skype :)
Dennis had a Birthday dinner for Ryan's 26th Birthday at the house. George had a shot with the 'guys'. "It's too strong".

George was dressed and ready to go. He just had to put on his ‘new’
shoes. :) We went to Park City Olympic Park to watch the ski jumpers.
There were a lot of young kids today. George had part of a hotdog and a drink
while he watched. I think he had a good time. He handed me my keys when he was
ready to go. I didn’t take any pictures, we have lots already. When we got
home, he took off his shoes and shirt and watched TV (Well took a nap with the
TV on.)

(This post is from maybe last year around April)
Today, dad got up at 10 after getting up briefly to open the blinds around 7. Seems he got a good 10 hours of sleep after being up for most of the day yesterday. He was really alert, commented on the weather (I can't remember exactly, but something like, what's going on--there was nearly a foot of snow this morning). He ate a big breakfast and then got sleepy. I asked him if he wanted to go to the Judo tournament and see Auntie Mamiyo, he said yes. But guess he got too sleepy bc he started making excuses, "you know there's a judo tournament. its a different organization"; I don't belong to that one, but they're coming to me" --something like that. It was cool that he remembered the tournament. I remember last year he wasn't too impressed; he didn't talk about it afterwards other than to complain that they're not doing it right--too much force. Anyway, we didn't want him to just sleep the day away, so Don and I got him up. Once he cleaned up he was ready to go out. We first went to the barber shop..sorry, Jody! We took advantage of the opportunity. He really enjoys the treatment and he got a really nice haircut. Then we went to the cemetary. He got out of the car and stood there to watch a group of people at another grave site (looked like they were having a party). He pointed the way to get to various places (harada, the japanese plot across the street, etc.) After that we went to Sage Market. He really got into shopping! He pushed a cart around and kept finding stuff to put in. Nearly all of it said, "hot and spicy". He's never wanted to buy so much before. I think we came home with about 10 things he picked out. We ran into Hideo and Kayoko. He always runs into someone he knows when we go there. Dad always has a twinkle in his eye when he sees someone he knows. But he didn't want to talk with them; he just looked away. They haven't seen Don in a long time so that was really nice for them to catch up. When we got home, dad had a really good appetite (for the stuff he just bought). But he made an odd dish with Asian noodles and ramune (like sprite), portobello mushroom, onion, peas. He was most happy about the takuan (pickles) and was chewing a long time and was very alert and content looking out the window (turned out to be a beautiful afternoon). After dinner, I found a show on tv called "too cute" featuring kittens. But the cable box wasn't working. He kept telling me just wait; it'll come on eventually. But I kept playing around for about 10 min. It must have worn him out because when I finally fixed it and showed him the kitten show, he was asleep! Once he starts winding down (esp. after meals it seems), it's hard to keep him awake. He was sleeping sitting up, so by 9pm i helped him to his bed. He was so tired he almost crawled in with all his clothes on. I hope he gets a solid nights rest. I wonder when he'll wake up?

Jody and I took my dad out to Snowbird on Thursday. Pamela, the person who sells the rocks, remembered us as usual. She's SO nice and likes Jody and my dad a lot. When Jody asked if we could just bring him up sometime and reuse sand (to save money), she actually went and got a bag full of used sand. She said that George was special and that she doesn't do this for anyone else. My dad wasn't too enthusiastic about the rocks at the beginning but got into it toward the end of the bag. He kept looking through the sand even after the gems were all taken out. And good thing, a marketing person (Gwen) came over and took pictures of him and chose his photo for the photo of the day. It was put on Snowbird's webpage and facebook. His photo got about 60 "likes" within a couple of hours!

It was fun to see George today :) I know he has been up to a lot lately, can't wait to hear all about it. He was watching the Olympics in his robe when I came over. We went back In his bathroom to get ready for the day. Sharon and David put in a new floor in his bathroom, it looks nice :) After he got dressed, we had lunch outside, watched the birds then worked on a project. We looked at some pictures of him in the helicopter with Sharon and David. He took a small nap while I cleaned up a bit. We went for a drive afterwards up to the mountains. It was a really hot day. We came home and he watched the Olympics. He wasn't talking to much but was talking through motions. I mentioned the helicopter ride while eating lunch that he took with Sharon and David. He looked up at the sky and motioned a helicopter.
