Today Dad got up at 10 after getting up briefly at 7 to open the blinds. He was really alert and said something like "whats going on--look outside" --10 inches or more of snow! He ate a big breakfast and was very alert. So we asked him if he wanted to go to the judo tournament and see auntie mamiyo. He said yes with that nod and look that says, of course, we should see her. But then he got sleepy after breakfast; and didn't want to get up. He said, "you know there's a judo tournament up there. It's a different organization. I don't belong to that one but they're coming to me." He's always been reluctant to attend "outside" judo club events and even last year when we took him he wasn't too impressed. He just complained about how now a days they don't do things right (use too much force). So we scrapped the trip to Ogden but we still wanted him to get out so he wouldn't just sleep the day away. Once he got changed and cleaned up, he was a little sleepy but ready to go. Don and I took him to the barbershop--sorry jody; but we wanted to take advantage of the opportunity! He really enjoys the shampoo especially. And he got a really nice haircut. After that, we went to the cemetary. He got out and stood watching a group of people at another grave site. They looked like they were having a family party. Then we went around to the other sites and he pointed the way for Don (harada, the japanese plot, etc). Then we went to Sage Market. He pushed the cart around all over the store and picked out a lot of food--guess he was hungry. He must have put about 10 items in the cart--mostly things that said "hot and spicy". It's fun to see him turn his head to look at something down below, like he's studying it. We ran into Hideo and Kayoko. He always has a twinkle in his smile when he sees someone he knows. But he didn't want to talk with them at all. He just looked away and got busy shopping. Don hasn't seen them in years so it was nice they got to catch up. He had a big appetite again when we got home -- of course he wanted to eat the stuff he just bought! But he made an odd concoction with the noodles. He put in ramune (like sprite), peas, portobello mushrooms, onions--guess it didn't taste too good by itself. He was especially happy with the takuan (pickles) and was chewing away for awhile, very alert and content. It turned out to be a beautiful evening once the sun came out. After dinner, I turned on the tv to show him "too cute" a show with kittens. But the cable HD wasn't working for some reason. He kept telling me, "just wait, it'll come on eventually". But I kept fooling around with the controls and about 10 min later it worked. But by then he was asleep! Once he's on his way to sleeping, it's really hard to keep him up. I helped him to bed at around 9. Hope he has a good nights sleep; but I wonder when he'll get up? Don spent the evening at Richard's. He's making a barbecue.

When I got here at 1, dad was just getting dressed. Dennis had him take a shower. We thought he'd get dressed and come out but when I went in to check he had his robe on was climbing back into bed! So, I got him up --he looked like he didn't recognize me at first. When I told him we had to pick up Don at the airport, he got ready. When he saw Don, he smiled, poked him and said, "oh you!" He was happy to see him. On our way home we went to a Pho restaurant on State street. Richard, and his nephew, joined us. The food was really good! Dad walked around and looked at the colorful decorations. He was happy to see Richard too and he liked his Pho. He seems to be enjoying his food a lot. After we got home, it started to snow. He said to Jody, "oh oh, you can't go any place now". He's still not talking a lot but he said a few things today. We got him to go out one more time to the liquor store. He still knows where his whiskey is in the store. He walked around the store a little too and smiled/smirked when he saw a bottle shaped like a skull. He and Don took a little nap when we got home, then he got up and watched judo videos. He was wide awake at midnight but I talked him into going to bed around 1. He's been sleeping now for 8 hours, though he got up and opened the blinds a couple of hours ago (it snowed --looks like a foot!). He changed into his pajamas on his own, putting on his clothes, still going to the bathroom on his own, and getting up by himself. He's doing better than a few weeks ago, but he's not quite the same as before, he seems a bit more detached. And he seems to be either on or off. But in some ways he's more together (putting on pajamas; not getting confused about where we're sleeping) than last Dec.

Sharon got into town today. She ended up taking George out to lunch and then they picked up Don at the airport. I hope they have a good visit :)

George was dressed today! He was asleep on the floor though :/ When I told him I was here and asked him what he was doing, he opened his eyes and said “I’m sleeping." I got him to sit up on the couch, it was cute he actually was talking more to me today; he pointed to his glass and said “Could I have water please?” We went back into his room and he started to make his bed, I helped him with that and then he tried to crawl in bed. I told him it was time to get up. I let him get ready pretty much on his own to see what he was able to do. He was able to get ready like he usually does; I just had to go in a few times to remind him ;) He is still a little tired; I think he got up early today though. It took him a lot of encouragement and time to get his shoes on. He just wanted to sleep during and after that. I got him to stand up but he just kept wanting to sit back down. At least he was looking out the window today. I pushed him to go today, I usually don’t but thought once he was up he would get going, he just didn’t want to get up. I think he has just gotten used to just being home and not wanting to do anything, or it was ‘just one of those days’.

Today when I came over, George was in bed. I told him I was here and said it was time to wake up. I turned on the radio to help him wake up a bit; he woke up, went into the bathroom and then went back to bed. I tried to get him up again but he didn’t want anything to do with that. I think the activity he had at the end of the week maybe wore him out. He didn’t even want to talk to me; he was just pushing me away (You know how he does, just waving his hand for me to go away). I let him sleep for awhile while I cleaned up around the house. When I went in to give him a drink, he woke up and we put on his robe and he came out and ate. When he was done eating, he sat by the window in the dining room.

George was asleep on the couch when I came over today. Dennis said he was up at about 10:00 AM banging on his door and even going outside. I think that was his burst of energy today? He had some lunch after he was done in the bathroom. He still is not talking to me much; He did say a few words though. After he was done eating, he talked to Sharon on skype. I’m so glad he is talking to Sharon and David! After a little coaxing, we went for a drive. He wasn't sure what I was asking and then said "You and me?" It's good to see him awake enough to go out.
Sharon and Don will be here next weekend.

Wow today it took a long time for George to get up. He first started out with a bloody nose, and then he fell in the bathroom, poor guy. He’s still not talking either. He was talking yesterday from what I heard. I talked to Dennis and he said his sleep schedule is messed up to where he sleeps during the day and is up at night. He ended up eating a little bit and when I left he was resting on the couch. It’s been a rainy day today too.

I was over on the weekend and George was sitting outside drinking coffee, reading the paper and looking at the birds. He was feeling much better! He even got dressed and shaved. He’s still not talking much, but at least he is feeling better. Today when I came over he was still in bed, course it was still kind of early for him. I cleaned up a little bit to let him sleep. (I’m not sure what time he went to bed and he seems to be sleeping so soundly). After I gave him a back massage with the massager, he got going and got dressed; he was eating by the time I had to leave. He’s still tired but much better. Don will be coming out on Friday afternoon for a visit. I’ll be over later on Wednesday and on Friday.

George is still not feeling good. I got him up and he talked to Sharon and David on skype, (Well they talked to him). He’s not talking; he doesn’t talk when he doesn’t feel good. Yolanda came over today to see him and to talk to Dennis. He has been resting. I turned on the TV to give him something to listen too. It was nice weather outside today, I wanted to get him outside. I'll try again on Monday.

Today when I came over, George was awake in bed. Dennis said he got up earlier in the morning and shaved and was doing things in his room. He seems to be doing better today; he’s still really tired though. When I got him up, he had breakfast outside. It’s a really nice day today. David and Sharon sent him a picture in the mail that he looked at today, he was telling me who the people were. He also received a letter for the 4th Annual Kaizen Judo Tournament. I showed that to him, he read it but didn’t say anything about it. I’ll plan on taking him to that if he’s up to it; the tournament is on April 30th. He’s pretty quiet when he’s not feeling very good. He ate pretty well and rested outside in the sunshine for a bit.

George was asleep on the couch today when I came over. He had his robe on and has been sleeping/resting a lot. (He hasn’t been sick since Friday). He’s drinking lots of Powerade but still not eating very much but had quite a few bites of Malt-O-Meal and jello. We watched a little TV together and he walked around the living room too.

Today when I came over, George was in bed. Dennis said he has been sick. We helped to get him dressed; he ate just a little bit. We just let him rest today. Hopefully he gets feeling better.

When I came over today George was asleep on the couch. Dennis came out and told me he didn’t get any sleep and he stayed out on the couch. He said he tried to get him to go to sleep all night. I let him sleep a little bit while I cleaned up. When he got ready he was still tired, I fixed him some lunch, he was telling me about his ex girlfriend and maybe it was a dream? He was also saying that Dennis was telling him “He better hurry and decide” “I think maybe it was a dream” and for me to “Keep an eye out”. He got mad at me today for heating his lunch up. :/ I hope he gets some good sleep tonight.

When I walked in today, there were dishes all over the kitchen floor and all the crafts had been taken out of the cupboard. George had been looking for a screwdriver ;) when he wants to find something, he will look everywhere! When he was done getting ready, we went to lunch at T-Koto (He wanted to go to a Japanese place today) :) I couldn’t find the place that he chose from the card. This was a new place. We sat at a hibachi table; he liked to watch our food being prepared. We went for a drive in the mountains after wards, the snow was really pretty, and he pointed out a couple of skiers to me on the way up. He got in the shower when we got home.

April Fools Day ;) George was still in his robe and watching TV today. While he was getting ready, I put in a load of his laundry. He got his check today and wanted to make sure I “Don’t throw it away”. When he was ready to go, we went to Dr. Jones (On the way there, he pointed at an airplane he saw in the sky). He saw a cute Easter egg tree there and when I mentioned he should make one, he smiled. We went to the credit union and he had to sit down a couple times, his legs are tired today and so is he. He had a food sample at the store but he didn’t like it ;) He came home and talked to his neighbor, had lunch and talked to Sharon on skype. When he saw Scout on the computer he said “Hi Butch” and was making meowing sounds. He took a nap when I left.
