George was up sitting in his wheelchair looking out the window today. (I made an appointment for him to see Dr. Jones on Friday). He’s pretty quiet today; I think he’s still tired. After I got him set up and when he was ready to go, I gave him a few of the flash cards to choose from, he wasn’t sure what he wanted to do today. He chose going to the craft store! We went to lunch at Ming Garden first, he choose that too. :) While he was sitting at the restaurant he asked me “What’s the building over there” it was Burger King, we had to drive by it when we were done with lunch. I told him it was kind of like McDonald’s and that they had hamburgers. He bought a bird house, and some flowers at Hobby Lobby that he will decorate another day. We will try to get on skype with Sharon on Friday. I’m going to be coming over an hour earlier and leaving an hour earlier and I will be coming Monday’s Wednesday’s and Friday’s.

George was asleep on the couch when I came over today. He said “I don’t know what’s going on”. After I told him ‘what’s going on’ he showed me the flowers that he and Sharon planted. He kept saying “Me and Sharon.” I was thinking the bulbs we planted had already come up and said “No me and you.” It was funny, he kept saying “No me and Sharon” then he was describing it and how she bought 3 flats and that his hands were cold. Ok Ok he was right ;) after he got ready I got out some of the cards so he could decide where he wanted to go eat cause he couldn’t decide. He chose Anna’s Café and got the strawberry whip cream pancake again. His eyes got big when he saw it on the menu. He said “Ya that’s what I want.” It was huge, again! He said he liked our waitress :) We went for a drive after wards, then went to Wheeler Farm and looked at the animals, it was kind of yucky weather. When we came home he got in the shower. His weight today was 90 lbs. and his BP was 130/70

George had lunch from Meals on Wheels today. He was talking to me about Physical Therapy and how he showed her a choke hold. He was explaining it to me and said “Just don’t pass out”. He was in a good mood today. When he was done with lunch, George Sharon and I went to Wheeler Farm to see a wood carving show. My Dad had some entries there. It was fun to go there with George and Sharon and to see George look at all the carvings. He wanted to know where my Dad’s carvings were. ;) I had to leave early but I hope they had fun looking at everything. Dennis is home now and Sharon was telling me that George said “Is everyone home now?” It was snowy today. Sharon will be leaving tomorrow evening.

I came over a little early today to talk to Sharon. George slept in today; he was tired from all the activity this weekend. When he was dressed and ready for the day he talked to David from Care Source (He was here yesterday to help him out. They talked for awhile and I think they got things straightened out). He had lunch at home and when I asked him what he wanted to do today, he said he wanted to go for a drive in the mountains. We drove up to the mountains, in a round about way ;) We saw kids sledding on the way up. He was pointing to the skiers at Solitude; we pulled in there and watched them ski for a bit. He fell asleep on the drive home. He checked the mail and was looking through the mail and today’s paper when I left. It’s so cute when he waves buy to me when I’m driving away :)

Wendover

Yesterday, Mamiyo, dad and I went to Wendover. Mamiyo has been staying here since Fri. and will go back on Tuesday. Dad did really well on the slots. He started with $20 and at one point he was up as high as $60. He spent at least a couple of hours with that 20 and never went below. I think he ended up going home with 45. I was amazed that he just got on the slot machine and just went for it. He even seemed to understand the voucher system (no more cash, just a ticket). I set up the bet for about 20c; then he just had to press "replay". But the machines are sneaky. There's a little button with "max bets" right next to the replay button. So someone could accidentally press it, which he did, but not for an hour or so. I left him for a few minutes and when I came back his machine was paying out a lot of money and he had bet 180 pennies! Anyway, after awhile, he got restless and kept pressing different buttons, cashing out, putting the voucher in again, etc. So we went to dinner. After dinner, he tried a different machine but was very confused. He kept wanting money to come out and couldn't figure out that the voucher was money. Anyway, he was up all day since 9, and stayed up even on the 2 hour drive to and from Wendover, and had a lot of energy when we got home. He ate a big piece of pie and icecream. He couldn't remember who had come with us. He thought there were more people, like Tom and Fran. He said, "I'm pretty sure you left somebody". He went downstairs and made sure everyone had a room to sleep in and that Mamiyo knew where the bathroom was. He pointed to Trevor's area and said, "I put those boys in here". He's such a good host.
Mamiyo did good at Wendover too but she had a hard time figuring out the slots. I didn't realize till later that she had mostly played video poker. She kept trying to "save" the symbols on the slot. She's been telling a lot of stories since she's been here, just like her old self. She and my dad had a nice conversation when she first arrived. I think she likes the company. It's Sunday and Jody comes today. It snowed last night. I'm not sure what we'll do. Maybe we can go to Michaels and choose some crafts?

George was awake on the couch when I came over. Sharon is in town :) we visited for a little bit and then she went to pick up Mamiyo so she can stay here with George. We ended up going to the Senior Center, we watched some square dancers and then went to the exercise room and George did some leg exercises, rode a bike for about a ½ hour! And then lifted some weights. I gave him the 2lb weights but he said those were too small, he ended up working out with the 3 lb weights. We left after that and went to ihop to get something to eat. We were the only ones there. He was asking me how to say the name of the restaurant; he said “It’s not Idaho”. Sharon is going to take George and Mamiyo to the Senior Center on Monday.

When I asked George what he wanted to do today he said he’d like to go to the cemetery. We stopped at Japan Market and had lunch first then went to the store to get some flowers. When we were at the store, he didn’t want to get out of the car but once inside he chose some really pretty, bright flowers and we took those to the cemetery. When we very first pulled up there was a huge wind gust. We made it though. (Sharon will be here tomorrow) :)

When George was getting ready I told him that it was day light savings time. He said “Who’s having a baby?” I don’t know how he got that out of what I said but later on he said “It’s daylight savings time today, 2am this morning”I think he read it in the paper. He actually wanted to go to sushi today, we went to Sushi Ya but of course being a Sunday, they were closed. His second choice was Anna’s Café. He ordered a strawberry whip cream pancake. When it came out he said “I didn’t order this” It was really big :) Fran called while we were at lunch and wanted to visit but when we got home they weren’t there. We went through pictures today :)

George was getting dressed when I came over. When he was ready to go he chose Mt. Fugi to go to for lunch today. When we got there, they were closed! I guess they changed their hours on Friday. We ended up going to another place in Union Square. There was a family eating at a booth and he said "That's a good idea" When I asked him what he meant, he said "All the family together like that" (They were in a booth that encircled the whole family). After lunch we were going to go to the park but I realized that the Senior Center was still open. We went there instead, George wanted to stay in the car and rest, he ended up coming in though ;) We got a tour of the facility and info about activities. When we left, I asked George if he liked it, he said "Ya!" We are going to go to lunch there next week and then just play it by ear when we are done with lunch.

George had just gotten up and was sitting on the couch in his robe when I came over. It took awhile for him to get going, he was tired today. We went to lunch at a pho restaurant that he finally chose. He took a long time at lunch today. It was late; we came home and talked to Sharon on skype. It’s so fun and interesting to listen to them talk. :) We go all kinds of places ;)

When I came over today George was laying on his bed. After he got ready I made him some lunch at home, he wanted to do that and it was a yucky day anyway. Before we started lunch we put some sweet rolls in the oven and put icing on them during lunch and had one of those too. ;) After we were done with lunch, I got out three different activities for George to choose from, he didn’t seem to enthused to do any of them. I got out the Bingo game and he wanted to play that, we played for quite awhile; he kept winning and grinning at me every time he won. He was really into it. It’s really good for memory. When he was done with that I got him ready for a shower. After his shower he came and asked me what he was supposed to do next. I had him help me empty the dishwasher, then we looked at pictures. I put one of the pictures in a photo book and left the others out for him to put in. Did you know that David is Mamiyo's husband? ;)
His BP was 138/72 and his weight with sandles was 9o lbs.

George was asleep in his robe when I came over today. He was tired and just wanted to rest but after he got going we went to lunch cause he decided he wanted to go eat first, he was “Hungry right now.” At lunch he kept asking if all the different places he was looking at were coffee shops. After lunch, I took him to get a hair cut and when I pulled up to the barber shop he said “Oh do I need a hair cut?” I told him it was getting really long. He was really happy when Yao told him that his brother was in on Tuesday. He gave her a really nice tip too :) He was saying how good she is ;) We came home and he talked to Sharon on skype.

We didn’t get going til late cause we had to find hearing aids. George found them! We ended up eating at home cause it was late. He went out and checked the mail, his check came today. We went to the store to deposit it (He was telling the teller that he wants to deposit into savings every time, and he wants them to do it) I guess direct deposit? We’ll see what he says next month ;) we did a little shopping afterwards too.
