Today George, Sharon and I all went to the Planetarium together! Sharon bought us a membership so now George can go whenever he wants! He will love that. Thanks Sharon :) He didn’t like the show too much this time, it was a cartoonish show. I’ll have to look out for that next time. We had fun though and this time we didn’t get lost ;) When we got back, (Sharon took me to dinner) George was sitting outside and looking at the rose bush that Dennis planted outside the front window.

I had to leave early today, I had errands again. Hopefully I will be done this week so that I will be able to spend more time doing things with George. His weight was 104! I thought maybe it was all Sharon’s cooking but he mentioned he had his knee pads on. BP was 120/59. We had lunch at home today then played Bingo, he won! We will be going to the Planetarium on Friday, I think he's looking forward to that.

It’s been so nice lately when I come over because George has been awake! On Wednesday he mentioned that he wanted to go to the cemetery but I didn’t have time to take him then, I told him if he could be ready to go when I come on Friday we would go…so we went to the cemetery after he read the paper for a few minutes, (and a little coaxing). Everything is on George time, he he. We went to Panda Express and picked up a late lunch to take home. I had to leave early again today for school stuff. (When I ask him about PT he keeps talking about how young his physical therapist is and why she would want to do that job at such a young age). I also mentioned that it is Ryan’s BD today, maybe he will go out with them tonight.

Today when I took George’s weight he was 102! And that was with no change or wallet in his pocket. I’m sure on Friday he will be back down to 100 lbs. His BP was 90/82. I let him finish reading the paper and made lunch. We went for a car ride after lunch and he was joking with the cashier at the liquor store after he paid saying “That’s all I get back?" It was cute and the cashier was laughing. I wasn’t going to take him, but he did mention it so we went there. It was a short day today; I had to run errands for school.

When I came over today, we talked about how much fun we had on our Wendover trip. We read the paper a little together and when I asked him what he wanted to do he said “Oh, lets take a drive up north” when I asked him where he said “How bout to Pocatello?” I have no idea why he wanted to go there but I told him I didn’t have the time today to go all the way up there. He then said he wanted to go to Chinese Gourmet for lunch, he really likes that place and I added it to his list of favorites. After lunch we went for a drive. I explained to him that I start school next week and wouldn’t have the extra time that I have had with him this summer. (I just have to say it has been a really fun summer with George and he really does make my day and make me look forward to coming over to spend time with him). He's awesome!

Today was a fun day! I came over a little earlier and took George to Wendover. (I wanted to be able to take him before classes start next week. I won’t be able to spend as much time with him when it does start). He did really well, we ended up going to 2 different casinos and he ended up a little ahead by the end of the evening. We were late getting home cause we had to ‘take his way’ ;) I found out that his favorite place to go golfing when he was younger was a place in Bountiful. When we were coming home I said “I thought for sure you would be asleep by now”. He said “I still want to be there”. It was a good day (and night). Weight today was 100 lbs. BP was 100/60.

We had lunch at home today, while we were eating he pointed to my nose ring saying “That gosh darn thing”. George received his check and we cashed that after lunch, usually we use the cart’s they have there at the store, but today I had him walk to the credit union, he did so good! He had to stop at the bench by the door on our way out. Whatever PT is doing with him…it’s working :) (Either that or it was a good day for walking). We went to the pet store to pick up some turtle food and while we were there George saw some kittens that he really liked; he even had me go ask how much they were. He was so cute with them. Next Wednesday we are going to Wendover! :)

George was awake when I came today. We took his weight and he was…get this…102! And he even had his slippers on! He did have his wallet in his pocket, but then again he always does. I have no idea where those 2 pounds came from. His BP was 111/63. We did some things around the house for a bit, watered plants, did laundry…etc. then went to lunch at the Park Café, (We had breakfast for lunch) after lunch we went over to Tracy Aviary; we had a good time over there and saw lots of different kinds of birds. We even saw a baby Flamingo. George had the peacocks eating out of his hand. It was a fun day.

George wanted to make coffee today (Friday) but I finally talked him into going out for coffee and lunch. He was saying “Why can’t I just make some coffee” I told him he needed to get out of the house and let someone else make him a cup. We went to Sunset Coffee, its right by the rehab place and has a great view of the valley. After that we took a drive up the canyons. I’m thinking next week we will do a Wendover trip. I would like to do that before I start classes again.

Today George was awake when I came over! We got his weight at 100 lbs. and his BP was 90’s/60’s. We went to the Clark Planetarium. We ended up going to a later show (Glad they had them available). We got lost in the parking lot! I said “This is crazy” George was shaking his head saying “You’re telling me”. We got the run around of where to go but once there it was a good underwater show. We went to lunch at Hooters after. He said he’d never been to a place where they ‘dress like that’ before. He said his waitress had a fat a**, made me laugh. It was a long but fun and funny day.

Today, George was really talkative. We spent about an hour or so just talking, it was really nice. He called Marissa a “Young chick”. He is so animated in his expressions. We went to a new Chinese place that is just opening up in the Sandy area; it’s called Kahoon’s. We were the only ones there. We talked to one of the girls working there for a long time; she though it was pretty cool that George was named after a president. She learned a lot about him and you know he likes to talk :) While we were there, he asked me if I had a tattoo on my chest (It was just a vein). Kinda funny though.

I’m baaack. I was on vacation last week and Sharon was with George for the last 2 weeks before that. I’m glad to be back :) Today George weighed 101 lbs! Wahoo! He gained 1 lb. Course it could be from the knee pads. (Thanks Sharon) His BP was 116/63 (I think). After that we talked for a bit, I showed George some pictures on the computer where we went. I reassured him that I am still going to be around. We went to lunch at the Jasmine and came home at 3:30. We got caught in construction and when we were finally able to go he said “Go, go go” while he laughed, it was funny. (I thought PT was coming today for some reason). He fell asleep on the couch when we got home. He seemed pretty tired today.

Today we had leftovers for lunch; I had great plans today, to go to the Clark Planetarium. They had a show that started at 1:30. I didn’t get there till 12:30 and by the time we ate, it was too late. :) George seemed excited and interested about it. I’m sure he will love it when we go. We ended up going to Cactus and Tropicals instead, (after he visited with his neighbor). He bought a lot of flowers that he wants to plant. Today his weight was the same at 100 lbs. and his BP was 130/60. (I’ll be taking his BP every Wednesday too.)

(This week I am coming over on Mon. and Wed. instead of Wed. and Fri. because of 4th of July)

George and I went to Rock Creek Pizza for lunch. It took awhile to get him out, he was pretty confused and not able to stay on track, I think due to his change in routine. After lunch, we went to the driving range at Pebblebrook. I was surprised at how well he did! :) He was hitting all the balls on the first try, and hitting them far. (At one point though he was calling them "basketballs") I really wish I had the video camera! But I just wanted to get out of the house, I forgot, I will bring it next time. I did get a couple of pictures though. He was telling me how to hold the club and how to hit the ball. I hit a few, but not as good as him! It was nice weather while we were there; it was a little cloudy and windy. It did wear him out though and I think he was sleeping by the time I closed the door to leave ;)

Yesterday I took George to eat at a place I used to go all the time, it’s called Karroo, in Ivy Place Mall. We talked a lot about Sharon and David. He was telling me a story about how David made a really big snowman when he came over for a visit. “It was over 6 feet tall!” (He was laughing when he told me this, he gets a kick out of how tall David is). We went there on our way to the podiatrist. Everything went great there, and we made an appointment for August.

Sharon just got into town last night. George was a little tired today. We went to lunch at Chinese Buffet and he really likes that place, he ate everything on his plate. :) I mentioned going to Wasatch Gardens but he said he just wanted to go home. I took him to Sugarhouse Park instead, explaining that he needs to get out of the house. We watched the birds on the pond, it was really windy, even the birds couldn’t fly, they just hovered. We layed under an aspen tree and looked up at the sky and the clouds. He said “it’s nice to close your eyes and just imagine”. It was nice and relaxing. (He was 100 lbs. again today).

This has been a weird week. When I came over today, we spend about an hour looking for George’s hearing aid. I gave it to him and went downstairs to ease his mind (He wanted to make sure no one was home) when I came up we searched all over. He went in his room and it was in his underwear! Anyway, we had lunch at home, and then went for a drive. His weight on Wednesday was the same! 100 lbs. At least he’s staying consistent.

Today was really just a blah day. I wasn’t feeling up to par, and I don’t think George was either. We were both just kind of tired and I had a headache. We did manage to go to the store to deposit his rebate check :) and pick up some groceries. He then said that he was out of his ‘drink’ so we went to the liquor store to pick it up. (I gave him a glass of water when we got home, he put some of the whiskey in there, and it was really watered down. He didn’t drink much). Every time we leave the liquor store he says something about the Swedish massage place across the street. Today it was “I wonder if their rough, if it’s a man or woman”.

Sharon and David had some beautiful flowers delivered to George from Cactus and Tropicals yesterday for Fathers Day, they are really pretty and he really likes them! He got paid today, yeah for him! We went to the bank and cashed his check, picked up a couple things at the store then went to lunch at Belgium Waffle. He said that he had never been there; he said he liked it though. We put the plant that he bought yesterday outside on the deck. I noticed some baby quails outside and he showed me where they live. His foot is better today. I think I want to take him to Hooters for lunch next week. I’m sure he would love it! ;) HAPPY FATHERS DAY GEORGE!

Today I weighed George (he was 100 lbs. again), we had a snack and he was telling me about how there were people over on Saturday. He really likes when people come over. We went to lunch, I wanted to take him to the nursery afterwards and on the way he wanted to go to the cemetery. We picked up some flowers at the store and went to the cemetery (he’s so thoughtful) then we went to Cactus and Tropicals and picked up a couple plants for his house. He had a hard time walking today, his foot hurt. His balance was really good today though.

I took advantage of the bad weather today, (still rainy and overcast, kind of on the cool side). We did Japanese painting today after lunch. George did really well :) He painted a tulip in the wind and showed me how to write Akimoto. I videotaped today. He didn’t eat very well; he said he had a tooth ache. We were going to go to the nursery and pick up some plants and flowers, I didn’t realize how late it was, I think we will do that on Wednesday. (He’s so sweet).

Today was a cold rainy and cloudy day. George wanted to go to lunch, we visited for a bit and I told him about Sharon’s promotion, he remembered talking to her but didn’t remember the promotion. He looked nice today, before we left we took his weight and he is still the same at 100lbs. He even noticed it was the same. We went to Chinese Gourmet (his choice) and he really loaded the plate! I think it’s the most I’ve seen him eat! When we got home he said he was out of whisky (I noticed he was, but since he hadn’t been drinking all that much, I wanted to see if he would want it). He did. We left again to pick it up. I want to try the Japanese painting with him Friday.

I’m so glad that George was himself today! He was sitting outside in sun when I came. We talked for a bit and then he wanted to go to lunch. We were out of the house within a half hour! I took him to The Park Café by liberty park. We were going to eat outside because it was such a nice day, but by the time we got there it was cloudy and a little cool. He said he had never been there before. For the first time ever, I forgot my purse and when we were done George was going to pay, but forgot his wallet! (It eventually got taken care of). We went to the park afterwards and sat on a bench and watched the birds at the pond. He stayed a lot longer than I thought he would. One comment he said was “be careful when you look up, just don’t open your mouth”.
Oh ya, he found his whisky.

Today when I came over George was asleep on the couch. It took awhile to get going but once out, we went to lunch at Rock Creek Pizza. I wanted to take him to the new aquarium out in Sandy but once there he didn’t want to get out of the car, I convinced him that it would be fun but once inside, he really didn’t want to go. I didn’t want to force him to do something he didn’t want to do. Maybe we can try that another day. We ended up going to the store to buy some flowers then went up to the cemetery, since we were unable to do that last week. We were parked on a slant and when he tried to go up he was just taking steps but not going anywhere, we had a laugh about that. It was a really long day today; it took him awhile to do things. Hopefully it is just because he was tired today. He did seem really tired and weak but when I was leaving he seemed to be his old self again.

We finally finished the birdhouse today! It looks great :) I set it out by the front porch so George could look at it when he’s inside sitting on the couch. George pointed out a bird that was feeding from the hanging feeder outside; hopefully one will come by his birdhouse. I forgot it was Memorial Day weekend until we went to the store to pick up his pills. I felt bad when George said he wanted to go to the cemetery and I couldn’t take him. I talked to Dennis and he said he would take him this weekend. (I had things I had to get done for work). He seemed to have a good day.

Today the weather was cold. We went to get George’s hair cut, then went to lunch at the Jasmine. When we were at the Jasmine, there was a couple with a little girl that walked in, and he leaned over and said “She’s the boss”. It was funny. He will also be getting weighed weekly. Today he was 100 lbs. I talked to him about eating more, he said he would try.

Today was such a nice day! I packed up a lunch and took George to Willowcreek park. I finally used the video camera today, (don’t know why I haven’t lately). He didn’t eat very well though. We walked around the park, and did a little PT. He noticed a couple disappear around the hill, when they came back he said “that wasn’t long enough”. I made George a pizza before I left today.

Ok this was nuts. To make a long story short, we took a drive and went out to Great Salt Lake, we stopped and looked around, did some PT and when we were coming home George told me the way back was “around the hill” We ended up about 75 miles or so from Wendover! When I finally was able to turn around it was about 51 miles back to Salt Lake! and when I took the turn George said “where are you going? Wendover is right up there”. It was a long day.

Oh my gosh! It seems that everything just went wrong today. George wanted to go to lunch at the Japan Market. They didn’t have a lot of bento boxes to choose from, he got confused as to what to do with his change; after we ate, we went to Harmon’s and picked up a few things. He had kept running into things, he forgot to use the brake, and then when we left he fell on the way to the car and a car almost backed into us. It was just a crazy day today. He did eat well though. :)

Today we went to lunch at Rock Creek Pizza, George picked the place to go and when I asked him if he like it, he actually said “It’s not bad”. I guess we need to go there more often. He usually is saying “I don’t like it”. He did some PT today too (This, he even started on his own! Good job!) :) When we went to the bank earlier, I was telling him to lift his feet when he walked and he was laughing saying “ya ya”. Before I left he was putting whisky in his ensure. (I guess it tastes better that way). ;)

Today after lunch we went to the pet store. George called me over, he saw Trevor at the pet store too. We talked to him for a few minutes. On our way out, one of the birds bit George (Just a little nip). There didn’t seem to be as many pets as the first time we went. The weather was windy and cold to do anything outside. We went to the store after to pick up a couple things. I had my final today so I’ll be able to focus more and plan more things to do.

Today George needed to pick up his pills, but before we left he did about an hours worth of PT! Hope he keeps it up during the week, it really helps. While we were waiting for the pills we went shopping. We stopped at Taco Time on the way home. At home he was finally able to show me the big dog that he is always talking about. It’s huge! He was laughing when I saw it. I love his laugh.

Today’s weather was nuts! Cold and windy, hot and sunny, couldn’t decide what to do. We went to get cash then shopped for a bit. We went to Robert’s craft store so I could buy the right color of paint for the birdhouse. I figured we could do that today because the weather WAS bad. We got home and ate and visited outside. George needs to practice walking downhill, he tends to go fast and starts to run and almost falls.

After lunch today, we started painting the birdhouse we got at the craft store. George liked painting it! His hands/arms hurt after awhile; we will finish it a little bit at a time. (I took a video of it that I will try to add later :) ). We then took a drive out to the Draper area. (He wanted to go out that way). We stopped at the store on the way home. It was really windy today!

Today I came over a little later than usual; Dennis has been helping me move. George was funny today. He has been out of whiskey for a couple of days and when we went to the liquor store, he was SO happy to get his whiskey :) When we came home from going to the liquor store and grocery store he asked me where his whiskey was, he came in the kitchen and was trying to open his whiskey saying “I NEED SOMETHING” it was pretty funny. We played bingo afterwards, he won!

Today I didn't stay long, I have a final to study for on Monday, and I'm moving. We had lunch at home and talked about things outdoors. He pointed out a Robin to me, he's got great eyesight! He had just gotten up when I got there! (12:10) He needs to get to bed earlier! After lunch we went to the store to pick up a few things. I hope he gets to bed earlier tonight.

It was a gloomy day today; we went for a long drive and picked up a late lunch at the Jasmine. During the day, George asked me if he could call me “his girlfriend” I told him “I don’t know about that” then he said… (This was really sweet); “you’re my best friend”. :)

Today George and I went to lunch at Wingers, (He ordered a hamburger that was huge! And later said he didn’t like the place because of that). There was a little boy in a highchair that he kept waving and smiling at, it was cute. After lunch we went to the pet store in Sandy (Incredible Pets). We looked at and petted dogs, birds, and fish (well not the fish). It was fun. :)He said some cute things, but I waited a few days to add this entry, I forgot what they were. We both had fun though.

Today I took George for a drive up to Brighton after lunch to show him where Dennis goes when he leaves for work. It was a pretty drive. We watched the skiers for awhile, I wanted to get out and go for a walk but it was snowy and slick.

Today it was cool outside, George and I were going to paint his birdhouse but I couldn’t get the right color! We ended up going for a walk outside. His neighbor came home and was checking his mail; George told him that he “walked good”.

I went to Lunch with Sharon and George at Market Street Grill. We talked about things to do outdoors with George. We went to the cemetery afterwards. Sharon drove us to Michael’s craft store and bought George some craft projects for us to do. It will be fun to do crafts with him. :)

George got up late today. He was making coffee when I got there. We had lunch/brunch and then went to get his haircut. I used the video camera, it was fun. He found out who lived behind him! He was talking to a girl in the driveway before we left for the barber shop and found out she lives behind him. He’s gone to the same place for about 25 years! I asked him what his barbers name was, he doesn’t know!

We spent the day inside today. It was too cool to eat lunch outside. After we had lunch, I gathered some pictures for us to go through and look at. (He took a long time to come and look at them, I think he just wanted to take a nap today, he had a late start).

Today while me and George were sitting on the couch and looking at the mountains, there was a grandmother with her granddaughter (about 2). The little girl was walking with a stroller and George said “She walks faster than I do” We had a laugh at that (cause as we know he does not walk!) He seems to be doing well with PT, he showed me some of his exercises. We went for a drive up in the mountains.

Funny moment of the day.

Today George and I had lunch outside again. The weather has been nice this week. While we were eating lunch, he noticed my nose ring and asked me if I had a pimple. I poked the nose ring up a little bit out of my nose so that he could see it, and he started to laugh! It was pretty funny. Afterwards he told me “That was a good one”.

George and I had lunch outside today, very nice day. He talked about the neighbors and about how he has cherry trees in his own yard. We looked at pictures that we are going to sort through and he told me stories about some of them. His hair was a mess when I first got there. He said he tried to use a different shampoo and it wouldn’t comb right. (He fixed it). :)
